Wicklow Co.Co. says its new ‘trial’ one-way traffic system is in line with European schemes to improve traffic flow. But the only flow that is considered is motorized and the scheme seems to benefit out-of-town multinationals and not town centre indigenous businesses. Have you experienced similar?

I’m not sure what you’re asking here
I don’t understand how anyone can say Wicklow is anti bike. Its one of the few parts of Wicklow outside the greater Dublin area to have some halfway decent cycle lanes and getting around the town is fine on a bike. Once in the town its a case of following the roads and using common sense rather than feeling like a dedicated cycle lane is an answer. Its not all that difficult and this rerouting is desperate to find some flaw for cyclist groups (you know the ones) to moan and give out. Thinking about contra flow lanes that don’t yet exist and losing momentum at junctions are not important to 99% of cyclists. There are other parts of the country that need a whinge about cycle infrastructure, but its not Wicklow.
The only anti bike thing about Wicklow town is the hills
Indigenous businesses? We’re talking about cafes and chippers missing a little footfall, hardly the trail of tears
